summarising the tipic

Student Learning Centre

Student-centered learning that is, putting student’s interests first is in contrast to traditional education, by proponents of "student-centered learning" also dubbed "teacher-center learning". Student-Centre learning is focused on each student's interests, abilities, and learning styles, placing the teacher as a facilitator of learning. Learning styles have many methods to do I would like to include 5 methods as follows.
The first, studying alone is the method of learning. The great advantage of external study is that you can study I your own time without the constraints imposed by lecture timetable. Though this freedom allow you to continue with the other significant responsibilities in your life, it is important these commitments do not crowd out your study. They are 4 methods to study alone, planning your schedule, using your schedule, mutual support groups and organizing group. The effectiveness of these electronic method as is enhance significantly by meeting face to face at some time if that is at all possible you will find it most worthwhile.
The second, time organization time is very important for human because time don’t wait everyone. In the student’s life should allocate time for organization. Student should setting goals. There is always time to whatever you to consider being most important. It is all matter of priorities. Spend some time sorting out the priorities in your life. When they have goals they must planning them schedule, using your schedule and finding time.
The third, lecture noting note making provide a framework within you can think about. Organize and recall relevant points and ideas presented in a lecture. Lecture notes have 3 methods, preparing for the lecture this will help you select, what is core material and what is peripheral, adopt an enquiring attitude will be involved and attentive and will recall more what is being said and very your method according to the purpose and type of lecture. The lecture notes will only become your lecture notes and not just a transcription of the lectures notes if you work on them from time to time
The fourth, reading effectively in undertaking a tertiary course you will be required to read widely and in depth in a number of subjects will be new for you and the reading will be quite challenging. There are 2 methods to reading. It is scanning and skimming. Scanning is a technique you often use when looking up a word in the telephone book or dictionary. Skimming is used to quickly identify the main ideas of the text.
The fifth, research notes from reading. When making notes from reading, first we must ask you some questions. It is good idea because we can find the information that we want to answer the question such as, what, who, when, why. If we use this question to find the answer we can summary the topic that we read. Analyze the assignment topic before making notes. Think about the purpose for making note and information you specifically need to record.
Learning styles have many methods to do such as reading effectively, lecture noting, time organization, studying alone and research notes. There are important to do better and can help easier to study.

What I have learnt in class?
Today I would like reflect what I have learnt in all class of Curriculum and learning management in classroom. In this subject teacher is very good because teacher would like to me have learn by myself it good technique because can learn in site and out site classroom.
I have learnt about technique of teaching, how to write the lesson plan, observations of teaching, and many things. It can make me will be good teacher in the future. I can develop my lesson plan by amend terminal objective and enabling objective to teach students.

I think a good lesson plan should be related to a curriculum and student can bring to use. All of time that I learn this subject it can make me to be good and I can use in the future.

Learning log / reflect from my friend's teaching ^_^!!
Today I study that my friends teach and I teach my friends toot. I’m first person I teach about “wonderful places of Phang Nga province” I teach about places and form to ask about what is the place that you like the most? And where is it? After I teach finish Teacher calls me good about warm up because I use video about Phang Nga and ask some question to students. I should improve about language because some world I’m speak wrong grammar.
All of my friend’s teaching is good because they are many materials and good activities but someone should improve about terminal objective because students cannot use in the real time. Language of speaking is wrong grammar.

To conclude, from all teaching I have the little defect to improve in the next time. I think it is good suggestion for me. I think teacher must have the specific objectives. It makes the teacher can teach easier.

Reduce Reuse Recycle

In recent times the world has witnessed global warming, climate change and natural disasters of unprecedented proportions. According to spiritual research, the primary cause of global warming is a cyclic process that occurs in the Universe over time. The effects of global warming we have so far witnessed are just the beginning of a destructive phase which will increase in intensity over the next 5-10 years. The destructive phase of a cycle can be worsened by humankind’s poor behavior towards nature. The poor behavior which we see nowadays is an outcome of the reduced spiritual consciousness of humans and resultant inability to gain protection against the influence of negative energies. Spiritual practice is the only way to truly transform our spiritually polluted mind into a pure one. They are 3 things that we can do to save the earth.

Learning Log
Today there are 5 people presentation. Each person has mistaken about lesson plan. They don’t know how to write enabling objectives and terminal objectives. When they write enabling objectives and terminal objectives wrong, they cannot achieve for teaching including evaluation because it isn’t relevance. If we know it, we can write lesson plan correctly.
Enabling objectives come from indicator what teacher would like students to know first and terminal objectives are what students can do after they finish study. For example, enabling objective you write: students will be able to understand preposition. Terminal objective you write: students will be able to ask and answer question about the direction of place. If you can write like this, you can evaluate students correctly.

In conclusion, enabling objectives are different from terminal objectives. You should plan your teaching that activities are smooth and choose only 1 content to teach. If someone can do like this, you will get the good point and good teaching.

Don’t Be Fat

Americans are getting fat. A new study says that most Americans are too fat. Is that true? Look at the people around you. Are most of them fat? Are most of them thin? Or are most of them in between? Many fat people get sick. They die young. Doctors say these people can live longer. They must eat more fruits and vegetables. They must eat less meat. They must eat more fish. They must eat less fried food. They must not eat at fast food restaurants. No more cheeseburgers, and no more French fries. They must eat less bread and less pasta. If they eat less, they will weigh less. But Americans must also exercise. They must walk more. They don’t have to run or jog. They don’t have to climb stairs. All they have to do is walk. Just walk 30 minutes a day. Is that hard to do? Eat less. Walk more. Live longer. It sounds easy. But people love to eat. Eating is fun. Food is delicious. So it’s not easy to eat less. Try to do it. It’s hard to do.

Coffee Is Generally Heart-Friendly
But it may be linked to a slight rise in high blood pressure, researchers say

Coffee drinkers can take heart from a series of studies presented this week at American Heart Association conferences in San Francisco. For example, coffee drinkers appear to have a lower risk of hospitalization for abnormal heart rhythms. And there's no indication that having a few cups every day increases the risk of atherosclerosis, the thickening of blood vessel walls that can lead to heart attacks and other problems. What's more, something in coffee other than caffeine might be responsible for a reduced risk of diabetes for women who regularly imbibe java. But it may be linked to a slight rise in high blood pressure
The heart rhythm research looked at the rate at which 130,054 members of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program were hospitalized for heart rhythm disturbances. About 2 percent of them had hospital stays because of such abnormalities, the most common being atrial fibrillation. But the risk was 18 percent lower for those who reported drinking four or more cups of coffee a day, compared to those who didn't drink coffee, said Dr. Arthur Klatsky, a senior consultant in cardiology for the program, who led the study.
"It might be a surprise, because coffee does give some people the jitters," Klatsky said. "And I don't think we're ready to tell people they should drink coffee to prevent heart rhythm problems."
The study didn't offer any reason why coffee might reduce heart rhythm problems, Klatsky said. "It could be that coffee drinkers have better diets or exercise more. We can't say for sure that it might not be related to minor heart rhythm problems that don't require hospitalization."
The bottom line: "Coffee drinkers don't have to quit because they have heart rhythm problems," Klatsky said. "That's about as far as we can go."

Another study that has followed more than 3,000 men and women for 20 years found no association between coffee consumption and atherosclerosis for just about every demographic group -- men and women, blacks and whites, smokers and nonsmokers. Participants in the study included people whose coffee consumption ranged from none to more than four cups a day.
The third study, based on a report from the long-running Women's Health Study, provided a possible explanation for a lower incidence of type 2 diabetes -- the kind that generally develops later in life -- among coffee drinkers. Researchers compared 359 post-menopausal women newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and 359 women without the disease. They found that women who drank four or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day had a 56 percent lower risk of developing the condition than those who did not drink coffee.
That reduced risk appears to be due to the effects of caffeine on a protein that binds to sex hormones, said Dr. Atsushi Goto, of the University of California, Los Angeles, who presented the report. But the finding is preliminary and requires further study, Goto added.
The report linking consumption of one to three cups of coffee a day with a slightly increased risk of high blood pressure came from Dr. Liwei Chen, assistant professor of epidemiology at the Louisiana State University School of Public Health, using data from six studies that included more than 172,000 participants.
"Based on our results, long-term coffee drinking might be a risk factor for hypertension, but the effect is very moderate," Chen said. "We definitely need more research and evidence to clarify our findings based on the meta-analysis of published prospective studies. Meanwhile, I think it is important for people to consider lowering their coffee drinking if they are concerned about their blood pressure."

E-Waste Creates Economic, Environmental Problem for Developing Nations

Societies are producing more and more electronic goods, and therefore more and more electronic waste, or e-waste. The United Nations' Environment Program has released a report that warns of a dangerous rise in the amount of such waste, which is often simply dumped in developing countries, posing health hazards to residents.
Every year the world produces 40 million tons of electronic waste: from TVs to refrigerators to cell phones and computers. And this figure will only increase.
For instance, by 2020, China is expected to throw away seven times more cell phones than now, and India 18 times more.
These high-technology goods not only are bulky, they often contain toxic materials such as lead and mercury. If the e-waste is not taken care of properly, it can cause pollution and health hazards.
The Basel Action Network is a private group focused on halting the trade in toxic goods, particularly waste goods. Executive director Jim Puckett says the world needs to take urgent measures to end toxic trash.
"The industry has built in obsolescence unfortunately, so we're seeing things become waste quicker than every before," Puckett said. "Computers now have a life span of about two years now in the North; many mobile phones are turned over within six months when somebody wants to newest model. So we are creating a mountain and we're not going to stop people from consuming. So the first thing we need to do is to get the toxic materials out of the equation".
The issue of e-waste is one of several topics being discussed this week at the United Nation Program for Environment's conference in Nusa Dua, Indonesia.
Achim Steiner, the agency's secretary-general, says much of the e-waste should be recycled. Beyond the environmental reasons, there is also an economic incentive, he says: for example, three percent of the gold and silver mined worldwide is used in personal computers and mobile phones.
"If you start investing and recycling and reusing these materials, you actually begin to look at turning a problem into an opportunity; you start creating jobs, you start reducing the amount of metals that leaves the cycle of our economy, you can reuse them," Steiner said. "So those are all advantages if you begin to manage electronic waste not as we see from industrialized countries to least developed countries without legislation”
The Basel Convention is an international agreement setting global guidelines on handling e-waste. But it is not without weaknesses. The United States, the single largest producer of e-waste, has never ratified the convention. Also, e-waste has become a highly profitable illegal trade. Some companies get rid of their trash by exporting it to poor countries where, instead of being treated or recycled, it piles up in landfills, and the toxic materials can leach out into water and soil. The problem today is compounded by the growing complexity of the trade. E-waste used to be produced by developed nations and then dumped in poor countries. But today poor countries without recycling capacity export their e-waste to nations like China, and emerging economies are also increasingly net producers of e-waste: China for example has become the second larger producer after the United States.
Electronic waste is more than an economical problem. It also affects the health of millions of people who make a living by stripping out the waste dumped in their countries. Environmental experts say it will take new funds and manpower to solve the problem, by establishing safe recycling facilities and curbing illegal exports.

VOA Special English Agriculture Report #01 << Listening Skill

Meredith Schafer is a graduate student. They were traveling in the state of North Dakota on a project. They noticed pretty yellow flowers. Farmer grows canola for seeds to make cooking oil. Canola is used for animal feed and biofuel but the canola plants they saw were not growing in farm fields.
The researchers decided to test the plants. They had brought along special testing papers for the project they were working on. They crushed some of the leaves in water and added the test strips. The results is the weedy canola plants contained  genetic changes. If a plant is genetically modified, its mean genes have been changed to produce desired qualities.

The researchers traveled more than five thousand kilometers to find canola. They stopped every eight kilometers to count plants and take samples to test vehicle. They finding at a recent meeting of  the  Ecological Society of America. The scientists found canola plants in almost half of the places they investigated.

The Brightness of the Sun
It can be said thatno one prefers a life in darkness to a life with a bright future. Sometimes it is unavoidable that darkness comes into our lives, however,
we know that when tomorrow comes, all darkness will disappear.
With the presence of daylight,
we will gain hope and courage.
The light of the day will make things appear more vividly to us,
so we are not frightened by what we cannot see.
We can make the sun rise at night as well.
Just focus the mind at the center of our body
until the light glows within.
When this inner sun rises at the center of our body,
we will feel even happier than when we see the sun of the day.
